Ladle slide gate plate is key component of slide gate nozzle, it determines the function of slide gate. The service life of slide gate plate is closely related to the properties of raw materials.

Slide plates are classified into burned slide plates and unburned slide plats according to manufacturing methods. By chemical compositions, slide plates are divided into corundum mullite slide plate, alumina carbon slide plate, alumina zirconia carbon slide plate and so on. Among them, alumina carbon slide plates and alumina zirconia carbon slide plates have the best high temperature performance, and are most often used.

Alumina zirconia carbon slide plates are developed on the basis of Al2O3-C slide plate. The primary raw materials of alumina zirconia carbon sliding plates are fused zirconia corundum, zirconia mullite, corundum, natural flake graphite and so on. The thermal shock resistance and corrosion resistance of alumina zirconia carbon slide plate are better than alumina carbon slide plate, so they are often used in large capcity steel ladles and tundish. Al2O3-ZrO2-C slide plates have much longer life than burned alumina carbon sliding plates.

Slide plate must have the following characteristics:

1.Sliding surface should be flat and smooth, roughness index should be less than 0.1mm;

2.Mechanical strength should be high;

3.High steel liquid corrosion resistance and molten slag corrosion resistance;

4.Good resistance to steel liquid permeation
